What is Mind/Body Medicine?

Our practice is in the Boston area and to the west. We assist people with stress sensitive physical and/or emotional problems to become aware of their unique responses to stress and to learn skills for making healthy changes. This includes people with chronic or recurrent illness who want to live healthier lives, freer of symptoms and worry.

You are your body, so if your life is going to be as full as possible, you need to take care of its emotional and physical health. Research now shows that many illnesses are impacted by the good and bad moods we have, as well as our attitudes. Some of the conditions that react to emotions include heart disease, asthma, digestive problems, pain, diabetes, fatigue, cancer, immune diseases, infertility, headache, and other chronic conditions such as arthritis. Learning new ways to manage your life and your emotional state can put you on the road to recovery.

In addition, research shows that conditions such as depression, anxiety, can be exacerbated by the ways you react to the demands of daily living. If you are trying to recuperate from traumatic experiences ranging from abusive situations to accidents or fearful medical encounters, our mind/body approach is very effective..
